Light&Library. L’austerità incontra l’hi-tech

Vincitore assoluto dell’edizione 2012 dell’Annual Emirates Glass Leaf Awards, il riconoscimento che premia gli architetti e i progetti più innovativi, il Musashino Art University Museum & Library del giapponese Sou Fujimoto.

Un’architettura di grande impatto, innovativa nel concept. La biblioteca e libreria diventa una galleria d’arte: i libri si trasformano in opere d’arte prestigiose che avvolgono e coccolano il lettore. Nasce una nuova relazione con lo spazio: la lettura diventa un rito del quotidiano, da coltivare.

L’ambiente deve trasmettere comfort e essere accogliente; l’arredo e il lighting project hanno un’importanza primaria. Gli scaffali circondano le pareti fino a dialogare con il building in un gioco di volumi: se i piani sono rappresentati dagli arredi, i vuoti sono caratterizzati da ampie vetrate che filtrano la luce e regalano luminosità.

The absolute winner of the 2012 edition of the Annual Emirates Glass Leaf Awards, a recognition that celebrates architects and recognises the most innovative projects, is the Musashino Art University Museum & Library of the Japanese studio Sou Fujimoto.

The architectural structure provides a great visual impact and is based on an innovative concept. The museum and library complex is regarded as an art gallery: books become prestigious artworks surrounding and cuddling the readers. It creates a new relation with the space: reading becomes a daily routine to be nourished.

The space must convey a sense of comfort and an inviting atmosphere; the furniture and the lighting projectare paramount. The book shelves mounted all around the walls create a dialogue with the building in a game of volumes: the floors are represented by the furniture, the voids are characterised by large windows that allow light inside, delivering brightness to the rooms.
