Glow 2012.

Light as the symbol of innovation and new ideas that expresses itself througthe inauguration of Glow. InEindhoven, right in the vibrant heart of Europe, thanks to the contribution of universities and research centres, Light takes on the quality of emotions and innovation and the event, with its magical looks, evokes the world of lighting in order to analyse and re-launch the topics of energy-saving and new lighting sources.

Glow, is the forum of light in art and architecture that this year took place from 10th to 17th November, and that illuminated Eindhoven with its light art tradition to present new urban lighting ideas and explore new ways to live urban spaces, which is a major concern for Italians owing to recent legislation and the current debate on the matter.
Glow is an international event that attracts lighting visitors and professionals. The topic of the 17th edition was “Faces&Facades“: lighting projections and interactive installations to demonstrate the many faces and nuances of Eindhoven. Post-industrial cities, modern cities, cities with brick buildings, projects in glass and the architectures with futurist forms: different faces-façades that intend to tell the story of a place, of a city and of its transformations.

A façade can either exalt or hide a building, because what is perceived and seen by passers-by and citizens is only one aspect of the city. During the day a façade has an appearance that changes at night. Thanks to the support of the modern and various technologies embellishing the façade of buildings, lighting performers are able to reveal Eindhoven’s identity, involving visitors in a special visual and perceptual experience. Lighting performers illuminated public spaces, worked on architectures, and coloured squares and streets. It is an invitation for citizens and tourists to let go, to create a different perception of the city. As we walk through the streets and gardens, we see the images that tell the city’s story while reality becomes frantic and dynamic.
